Wheels / Tires

Japanese wheels on a British car with an American powerplant.
Enkei GTC01s in Hyberblack, 17". Now if I can just get them to fit. Nitto 555's all the way around, 205/40-17 up front and 275/40-17 out back. I felt like going a bit wider than the stock 155/80-13. The fronts are less than an inch larger in diameter than stock, while the rears are a full 3 inches larger in diameter, which along with the width necessitates the radical redesign of the rear suspension.

8/31/08 See picture below for new placement of front wheels. After I was unhappy with the first a-arm attempt and fabricated my own I added some width to bring them further out for space and asthetics. See the picture below, now they just barely miss the stock fender lip so hopefully I can still avoid having to roll the lip. I am working on cutting more off the back to get the wheels/tires as far out as possible to match the front and for handling purposes, once I am done I'll take my measurements for my rear.

03/2008 Spent most of the weekend fitting my wheels, ran into a couple problems but they were fairly easily overcome. Problem one was the hubs on the Wilwood brake kit were too long and wide. I had to modify the wheels to open up the bore removing the portion the center cap mounts to. Now the hub stick out past the wheel but the screw on dust cap looks good against the chrome.

Problem no. 2 was once I got the wheels on the hubs was the spacing was quite a bit off. I ended up having to bring in the hubs about 2 and 3/8 of an inch. See the suspension page for details on what was altered.

Finally got the wheels in place for a decent rear mockup. I love the stance and still have room for some travel. I think it'll look even better with the new paint color. Front mock up will take somre more time as my brake rotors/hubs are on backorder with Summitracing.com. Seems like everything I order from Wilwood has to be made before it's shipped to me. Hopefully the quality will be worth that wait. I'll update with the front end mockup as soon as possible.

Wheels finally arrived! Will have a mock-up a.s.a.p.
